Rectal and vaginal suppositories have been used to deliver medicine to patients for decades. The pelvic region houses a matrix of nerves that travel to the legs and up the spine, and the colon contains cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), which mediate many of THC’s effects. This means that suppositories do not have any of the psychoactive effects of THC, allowing patients to find relief without feeling the head high associated with cannabis.

Cannabis suppositories are excellent for treating muscle pain, menstruation cramps, prostate and colon cancer, Crohn’s, IBS and endometriosis. Rectal suppositories are also being used for lubrication to mitigate pain and increase pleasure during vaginal and anal intercourse.
